The little worlds in the large city
for guitar and the string quartet, durata 12 min., 2005This time, I wanted to compose the music based only on my intuition and invention and not on the rational construction. I wanted toying with details. So, I decided to compose a piece of music that comprise short movements and I limited the rational component to the necessary minimum. When I finished essential part of it, I realized that I recall their tiny fragments in the most ordinary parts of Prague centre. While I´m waiting for the tram, in walking to the railway station or to work…
These common and for the first sight boring streets, yards and various remote spots are the best places for contemplation. I think that it is because of its anonymity, which lead to imagination that all these micro-worlds are different behind each window. In my opinion, the very anonymity give them much inner autonomy and makes it interesting. I think that they attract me because nobody is trying hard to improve them and anybody doesn´t make it prettier, they are so ordinary. They are left without alternations and without hypocrisy…
