Meditation about the way to the tenderness
the spatial-composition for 35 players, durata 20 min., 2001Do you also find people valuable, to whom you are able to entrust with the most intimite problems? Or better said: people, who are so much attractive to you, you must be tender and gentle to? These days, we meet crowds of people filled with happieness and worries. And most of us is able to close only to a few friends and the relatives so as to understand their joys, happiness and worries. As long as we have such a close person we need to be tender to, we can speek about the happiness…
That is also the reason, why the tenderness is so important theme for me and I decided to compose this piece of music about it. It should not be seen as an melancholy lamentation. It should meditate over the way to making friends with somebody up to the moment we need be tender to. It doesn´t express the tenderness all the length of this duration, but from time to time is touching and leaving it before reach it definetely. Mainly, the feeling of the tenderness should be shown in its final thirt to them, who are able to get it.
I would like to mention two main motivations that led me to compose this piece of music. One of them is the church of saint Wenceslas in Prague – Vršovice (arch. J. Gočár, 1929). When I´m looking at it from outside, it looks so modest, as if it were a school or a cable – lift stop. That is the reason, I feel more authority from its inside. It leads me to the most intimite feeling and it doesn´t allow me to think of anything undignified for this place. All is here made according to the function of this building and I think this church meets its function much better than most of other shrines.
Very important motivation for composing it, was the closest person of mine – my wife Irena. She was and she is the first person, I need be tender and gentle to, and that is the reason, I decided to devote this composition to her.
